The right floorball stick is important as it improves control, shot accuracy, and comfort—helping beginners build skills faster and play with confidence from day one. Here are the essential factors to consider when choosing the right one for you:

1. Stick Length
-
General Rule: Stand the stick in front of you with the blade on the ground. It should reach just above your belly button but no higher than the height of your fist above it.
-
General Height Guide:
-
Under 150 cm → 75–85 cm stick
-
150–170 cm → 87–92 cm stick
-
170–185 cm → 92–96 cm stick
-
Over 185 cm → 96–100+ cm stick
Beginner Tip: Shorter sticks offer better control while longer sticks provide reach and power.
2. Flex (Shaft Flexibility)
- Flex is measured in millimeters (mm) and indicates how much the shaft bends under pressure.
-
Lower Flex (23-27 mm): Stiffer, better for strong players and powerful shots.
- Higher Flex (28-34 mm): Softer, ideal for juniors or players who prefer more whip and control.
Beginner Tip: Start with a higher flex (around 30–34 mm) for easier ball handling and shooting.
3. Blade Side: Left or Right
-
Left: Held with right hand on top, blade curves to the right.
- Right Blade: Held with left hand on top, blade curves to the left.
Beginner Tip: Go with your natural feel—how you hold a broom usually indicates your side.
4. Blade Type & Curve
-
Straight Blade: More versatile, good for beginners.
- Curved Blade: Better for shooting and ball control.
Beginner Tip: Start with a straight or mildly curved blade to learn all-around skills.
5. Grip & Material
- Grip: Look for non-slip, sweat-resistant grips.
- Material: Full carbon or composite sticks (carbon/fibreglass) are lighter and more responsive than basic plastic ones.
Final Tip:
At RED Shop, there is a Tryout Zone where you can test the full range of sticks. Trying before buying is important as comfort, balance, and feel are just as important as specs.
